What do colors of Mauritian flag mean?

The flag of Mauritius has 4 horizontal stripes of different colors. The red stripe (the first stripe from the top) is for freedom; blue one means the Indian Ocean; yellow one has chosen for the sunshine; and, finally, the green stripe is for the agriculture.

The actual flag was adopted in 1968 when the island became independent.
