“Heritage” in English means, the patrimony and “Awali” is a Swahili word which means back to the source. Heritage Awali Resort reflects a combination of Mauritian living which raises many associations of our invisible and eternal relationship with the African continent, which is the root of our cultural identity preserved through centuries and across the distance which are expressed through the rhythm of the Sega Dance. Heritage Awali was built in 2004 in an African village style amid a lush tropical garden spread over 7 hectares of land. Every detail there reflects the African culture and their life style. The hotel is designed in small, cozy thatched-roofed cottages with dominating saffron and ocher colors, harmoniously complemented by whimsical ornaments and decorations. It should be noted that the hotel is adjacent to Heritage Le Telfair Resort & Spa, which forms part of the same hotel group allowing guests to use the facilities of both resorts, as well as the common white sandy beach that stretches over 1.5 km. All rooms are located in small two-storey cottages hidden in the heart of the green tropical gardens. The interiors are elegantly decorated with warm colors which blend harmoniously with the modern African style: trim and dark wood furniture, original decorative elements made of bamboo, ceramics, and metal enhanced with natural fabrics with traditional African motifs. The room’s atmosphere conveys ethnic richness of Africa and a secluded tropical tranquility of life on the ocean. Each room has a private terrace or balcony with wonderful views of the ocean and fragrant gardens.

They have all an area of 52 m2 including a terrace or a balcony with direct or partial views of the ocean and tropical gardens. Each room consists of a bedroom with a comfortable sitting area, a cozy furnished terrace and a spacious bathroom with separate shower, bathtub and toilet. There is a sofa bed in the room which also serves as an extra bed for one child or one adult. There are rooms specially adapted for guests using wheelchair.

1 VILLA 310 m2, including a private pool and gazebo. This luxury duplex villa offers the ultimate in exclusivity and privacy for families with increased demands for comfort. On the ground floor there is a living room opening onto a terrace overlooking the private pool and the ocean. The Villa also have a dining room with a small kitchen and two large bedrooms (one for the children), each bedroom have its own bathroom. A third bedroom with an adjoining living room and a private bathroom is found on the second floor. In a private garden, a large swimming pool with comfortable sun loungers and garden furniture for relaxation and in villa dining.

Heritage Awali offers restaurants which are located on the Heritage Le Telfair site and all the state Domaine de Bel Ombre.

It is the main restaurant and is a non-smoking area overlooking the pool and the beach. The Balafon restaurant opens daily for breakfast and dinner and serves international cuisine and national dishes. Everyday from 18:00 to 21:00 a separate buffet is organized for children with their favorite dishes. A special menu for vegetarians is also available. Breakfast and dinner are served as themed buffet.

The Infinity Blue is a beach smoking restaurant at the water’s edge, with tables set directly on the sand. It offers delicious lunch and dinner in a casual ambience. Great menu of the freshest seafood and Mediterranean cuisine are masterly prepared by the chef. Lunch and Dinner are served on an “A la Carte” menu.

Boma is an African styled restaurant open once a week for dinner and serves traditional African dishes such as meat, grill and meals of fresh water fish under the fiery African shows.

The Beach Bar is open from 10:00 until midnight and serves fine drinks and cocktails.

Amafrooty is a day restaurant and bar and is situated by the main pool. It serves light lunches and snacks at tables set by the swimming pool.  Drinks and dinner are served on the Beach in an “A la Carte” menu. Amafrooty also provides afternoon tea with pastries and pancakes.

It is a gourmet haute cuisine, located in a beautiful stone mansion from the early XIX century, surrounded by a secular park with old trees. The tables on the terrace overlook the golf course and the villas. There is no better place for a romantic dinner by candlelight! The château LE BEL OMBRE is open for lunch, afternoon tea with pastries and pancakes and dinner is serves on an “A la Carte” menu.

It is the main bar where throughout the day drinks and snacks are served. It also provides light meals and musical entertainment and night shows in the evening. It is also a salon where you can read the latest press, work online on a laptop; you can also organize a pre-dinner drink or digestive after dinner. The Zenzi-Bar is open from 10:00 until midnight. 

This restaurant is located in the club house at the golf course. Heritage Golf Club is a convenient place for players who wish to replenish energy after playing on the green or it can simply be an alternative beach restaurant for lunch. It serves simple and delicious Mauritian dishes, sandwiches and salads. The dinner is served on an “A la Carte” menu. The bar is open from 07:00 to 19:00 whereas the restaurant is open from 08:30 to 17:30. 

The C-Beach Club opened in 2010, club’s furnishings came from Italy and France: beach beds and gazebos has be installed for your comfort, showers and changing rooms, two onshore restaurants “feet in the sand”. The first restaurant the CYAN serves Italian cuisine, 72 seating and The COAST which serves Mediterranean cuisine with 40 seating. The C-Beach Club also owns a lounge which is called CHILL and a water sports center the CABANA. Featuring also a swimming pool, children’s and youth club, entrance is free for hotel guests of Heritage hotels. 

The villas are located at Domaine de Belle Ombre and are separated from the hotel area just by the Heritage Golf Club. They are set amidst a tropical garden offering  a beautiful view of the ocean, tropical garden and golf course. Each villa provides complete privacy, the perfect relaxation mansion with internal patio, gazebo and an outdoor lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped with the latest technology. The interior furniture of the villa is made of precious wood and the décor with exquisite fabrics, creating a homely atmosphere. All villas are air-conditioned and equipped with ceiling fans, TV (satellite channels), internet Wi-Fi. 

Indulge yourself at the hotel spa and wellness center, a true oasis of beauty, health and peace surrounded by a lush garden. The spa aims to improve the body through the harmonization of all the senses. The Spa covers an area of 2000 m2, offering a wide range of body care services for health and beauty based on ancient and modern technique with 100% natural products of Seven Colours, which was created specifically for this spa. The spa has 9 cabins: 3 single and 3 double cabins, outdoor pavilions, Thai and Shiatsu treatment rooms, a private spa suite for honeymooners, a relaxation room, saunas, steam rooms, whirlpool bath, manicure and pedicure rooms and a beauty parlour. The Spa Center opens daily from 09:00 to 20:00.

The gym has a personal trainer, 3 tennis courts with private coaching and courses with a personal trainer at an extra cost; you can also learned Tai Chi and Yoga. It also have a heated swimming pool of 600 m2, snooker, table tennis, computer and electronic games, badminton, beach volleyball, mountain bike rental, horse riding (10 minutes away) and subject to extra charges.

The boathouse offers a variety of water sports activities like water-skiing, windsurfing, kayaks, pedal boats, aqua gym, snorkeling, glass-bottom boat trips, scuba diving and test dive in the pool, sailing, deep sea fishing and kite surfing lessons.(some of these activities are subject to extra cost)

The kids club opens daily from 08:30 to 23:30 for children aged  2 to 11 years. A guided tour of the surroundings is available with other exciting activities and programs which have been designed for children of different age groups. The club is also equipped with a children’s pool, TV room and a recreational playing area. Special children’s menus are served directly at the Kids Club. Children under 2 years are only accepted when they are accompanied by a parent or a nanny.

The Frederika Nature Park is located just a few minutes drive in a tropical forest at an altitude of 400 meters above the sea level. The park covers an area of 1300 hectares, where unspoiled nature surrounds you with a lot of endemic plants and birds that are found only in Mauritius. You can venture in the forest on mountain bike or motorcycle or by foot for those who are fond of trekking.
